If residents aren't keeping up with the conversation prompts need to be given along the way.

Greetings,
I’m Pieta Valentine from New Zealand

Video Reenactments:

Working at a dementia unit for 8 years as a diversional therapist ( prior to that I was a Physio ... ) I am using the observations, experiences and conversations with dementia residents as the basis for this reenactment of granny and grand daughter discussions in a mock dementia unit.

GRANNY FOR THE PEOPLE :
These videos share positive, practical techniques for dementia residents living in dementia units.

GRANNY SHORTS SERIES…

Dementia-unit and dementia-resident specific these shorts explain the challenging and colourful life that goes on within a dementia unit and outlines ways to practically assist the residents living there.

To Explain This:

Granny an elderly, opinionated, delightful woman (herself with Alzheimer’s dementia but with high level cognitive function) lives in a
dementia unit.
She has a loyal grand daughter (a physio student) who visits regularly.
All is explained with their lively conversations.
The dementia unit problems that Granny and her resident-colleagues face on a daily basis are discussed as are the many and varied positive solutions that Granny and the grand daughter has for it all.

The wide ranging conversations are also based on Granny’s magazine reading and her grand daughter’s family issues, all of which Granny takes a great interest in with her life lessons.

Conclusion:
Family so often want to help their relatives in dementia units, but don’t have access to the right information or the tools to know how…
So Here ….Step by Step they can by viewing and applying the positive practical techniques in each video.
