The rift between President Trump and Elon Musk seems to be impacting the Senate’s ability to pass the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, according to National Journal Correspondent Savannah Behrmann. She joined LiveNOW's Andrew Craft to discuss this back and forth happening in Washington, D.C.
The non-partisan budget office estimates that the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ will cost $2.4 trillion. However, members of the Senate aren’t all in agreement regarding the amount of deficit this bill will add. Due to the feud between President Trump and Musk, there is a “growing fracture” within the Republican Party. To figure out how much deficit will be added, Sen.Ron Johnson has requested for multiple data that he wants to present in front of the Senate Republicans.
With EV tax credits being taken out of the bill, Musk argues that “Electric Vehicles are being unfairly target”, whereas, Republicans argue that this is a way for a “fair share of the road” with other non-electric vehicles.
The Senate Republicans originally proposed two separate reconciliation bills: one bill focusing on tax and another focusing on immigration and national security. This topic is still afloat but is currently undecided.
